Berry-Smash Muffins (Strawberry Muffins)
It’s a lazy Sunday evening. After finishing two loads of laundry and my weekly Skype session with my mother, what’s a girl to do next? I suppose I could have cleaned my apartment… jumped on my exercise bike to get some exercise… or done my German homework. >.<
But instead of any of these things… I decided to make some strawberry muffins. 😉 Continue reading
Yummy, gooey, fluffy Nutella cake (after I consumed about half the mug already)
After making ratatouille and chicken noodle soup today, I was craving something sweet and decided to make another microwave mug cake. After all, the last one was a cinch and quite yummy, so I decided to search for a Nutella version this time. I found a recipe on Kirbie’s Cravings that only uses four ingredients, which looked simple enough. She had a good point in saying that Nutella already has sugar and oil, so why add any additional amounts to the cake?
Well, I tried following the recipe to a T… and it exploded in the microwave! :O Continue reading
Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake–so light and fluffy! 🙂
I’m on a roll today… after making both Vegetarian pork sung sushi (素肉鬆壽司) and Paleo Slow Cooker Pot Roast, I was still craving a little sumthin’ sumthin’… so I started browsing mug cakes online. 😉
I’ve looked at mug cake recipes before and have read some horror stories about how they come out soggy and undercooked–not like REAL cakes at all. However, then I stumbled upon this little number from The Novice Chef: Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake! In her blog post, she describes how delicious this cake was–and the secret was NO EGG. Interesting… Continue reading
Lemon Cloud Tea Cookies
As I mentioned when I started blogging again, I just started jogging a week and a half ago to train for the Swiss City Marathon 5 Mile Run. I think I’ve been overly enthusiastic about my ability to run 5 miles and have run 9 times out of the past 12 days.
On Saturday, I felt a twinge in my left thigh, which was probably a sign that I was overdoing it in my attempt to go from ground zero to Speedy Gonzalez. I was quite disappointed when my friend A- told me I really need to take a break before I seriously injure myself, but it’s probably for the best. 😦 Continue reading
I turned 36 last Tuesday. As the years go by, my birthday ceases to be a special occasion and I don’t feel much like celebrating it. This year would have been no different, except for the fact that it happens to be the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac, and my brother and sister-in-law came to visit me for the first time since I moved to Switzerland in 2009.
It was just a coincidence–my birthday wasn’t their original intention for visiting–but I was very happy that they could come visit both Switzerland and Europe for the first time and also be with me on this special day. Continue reading
I used to volunteer quite a bit in the United States. I think it was ingrained in us as Americans to help others out when possible. As a Girl Scout, I remember visiting the local retirement home and celebrating the 102nd birthday of one of the residents and singing Xmas carols at the mall during the holidays.
The loaf got a bit dark from the egg wash but still looked very pretty.
After a glorious weekend, the weather’s now cold and rainy again. I suppose this is how everything stays so lush and green in Switzerland. I hate walking in the city in my work shoes when it’s raining. My feet get soaked within 10 minutes. I better remember to wear my boots to work tomorrow.
When the weather is cold outside and I’m tired, I tend to hole up indoors and just stuff my face with food. I just polished off half a box of cereal while surfing the web, and that was AFTER dinner. Crunchy foods are just so addicting… Continue reading
