The 4th Dimension

Last week, I was having drinks after work with my friend A-, and I dunno how the topic turned to this, but at one point, I brought up how I once learned that there were 3 ways to love someone:  mental, emotional, and physical.  And of course, while you point these out, there are the requisite accompanying hand gestures pointing to your head, heart, and crotch, respectively.  😛

I forgot where I first heard this, but I think the description is apt.  You DO love with your mind, body, and soul.

But then A- twisted one on me and mentioned that these 3 aspects could also be applied to health…  but with the addition of a 4th dimension:  spirituality.

Hmm…  I’d never thought of that one before.  Interesting.  I pondered that thought for a moment.

But I’m not religious, I told him.  I dunno if I consider myself spiritual.  What does that even mean, anyway?  A- mentioned that he’s not deeply religious either, but he IS spiritual.

Howdy folks, I’m baaack!

Howdy folks, I’m baaack! Yup, after two months of falling off the blogging bandwagon, I’m finally ready to write again. I was getting worried that I was turning into one of those bloggers that started off strong and then fizzled off over time.

So what’s happened in the meantime?  I guess life happened, that’s what.   Continue reading

Six Degrees of Separation – Part Deux

It’s 11 pm and my eyes are burning.  I think it’s time to pound out this blog post and get myself to bed.  The Yelp reviews will have to wait until tomorrow.  😛

This past Monday, I wrote a post on the Six Degrees of Separation.  At the time, I wanted to share a commercial directed by my brother’s wife’s brother, but I wasn’t sure if I could, due to any privacy issues or whatnot.  But now I have permission to share, so here it is–a lovely Longines commercial with Hong Kong singer/dancer/actor Aaron Kwok, directed by Jimmy Lu and Sharon Yeung.

Six Degrees of Separation

Yeah…  I’m avoiding doing my German homework again by writing another blog post.  Tee-hee-hee…

I guess the joke’s on me though, because my German still sucks.  :O

Anyway, I’m just going write this post and then will focus on studying German again.  I promise.  Ok, well…  maybe tomorrow.  But I will definitely get to die Deutsch lernen by the end of this week.

So…  last week I was having lunch with my coworkers when one of them mentioned that she had watched Fast & Furious 6 over the weekend.

“Did you know that the director’s my cousin’s cousin?” I mentioned to the group.  “Yeah, the director is Justin Lin, and I’m distantly related to him by marriage–not by blood though.”   Continue reading

♥ The cutest little kitty in the whole, wide world ♥

I have recently discovered a very cute little kitty circulating the internet.  IT IS THE CUTEST THING IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.  No joke.  I mean, look at this little guy…  kawaii!!  ^.^

I just want to pet his little belly, stroke his soft fur, and shower him with kisses.  MUAH!!!  ♥ ♥ ♥  And I’m not even a cat person.   Continue reading

Springtime in Zürich

I didn’t have anything else going on today, so I was going to join some friends for the housing expo.  I’ve already established that I can’t afford to buy anything in Zürich at the moment, but I was hoping to tag along and learn what the current housing market is like.  Since the weather’s beautiful today, I decided to enjoy the sunshine and walk down to the Kongresshaus.   Continue reading

Zurich’s Yelper of the Week!

Woo-hoo, I’m Zurich’s Yelper of the Week!  What does this mean?  Lots of fame on Talk, Facebook, and Twitter…  but too bad no fortune.  Haha…

You may think I jest about the fame, but let me tell you–yesterday I walked into Kennedy’s Irish Pub for the first time, and the first thing that someone said to me was, “Oh, so YOU’RE the I-Lin.  Spelled I-…”  And he congratulated me for being Yelper of the Week.  Continue reading

My first home… not!

Today I went to my first home viewing.  Well, to be technically correct, it was an apartment viewing.  Yesterday morning, a friend sent me a link to a new build around the corner from where I live, and it looked pretty good.  2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, washer/dryer in unit, balcony, 108 sq m (1163 sq ft), 3rd floor (which is 4th floor in the U.S., as they start with ground 0 here).  Selling price:  CHF 1,070,000.–  :O

You know I’ve been living in Zürich too long when I think 1 million is a good price.  But I guess that’s the norm in the city, so I called the sales office to ask for an appointment.  That unit was already sold.  😦 Continue reading
